After four brutal days of work in a row, I made today a “vacation day”… I got caught up on watching the Breaking Bad episodes that made it to Netflix (love my Netflix subscription!) … And I made 4 microwave potholders for my Fiesta Gusto Bowls.
These bowls are quite deep… so I don’t make the potholder quite a big as most directions online tell you to do.
If you’re not “in the know” on these, these are meant to go into the microwave with the bowl when you’re heating up soups (or whatever) and the benefit comes when you go to remove your food from the microwave – because you can grab the corners of these fitted potholders and not have to touch the hot bowl.
In order to make these, it’s important that you use only 100% cotton fabrics, batting & threads – so that none of your materials ignite in the microwave. 🙂
I already had posted about these HERE. But I only made one practice one – and find that I *do* use it quite a bit. So I thought I’d make a few more – this time out of some pretty fabrics that coordinate with my Fiesta dishes (I call them my “anti-depressant” dishes… all bright, fun colors). The fabrics are from Moda’s Bobbins & Bits design line – which I got from Fabric.com at about $7 a yard at the time I purchased it. Score! 🙂
I love the happy, happy colors.
And what a great way to blow a day off! I spent a good chunk of the morning making these. I love how they turned out. 🙂
